This is a day to drive and enjoy scenery–at least in the morning. We will be turning west and south, passing through the beautiful Cotswolds. We will have lunch in Bourton-on-the-Water, the town where Benjamin Beddome served a Baptist Church for 50+ years. He was the author of many wonderful hymns (some still in our hymnals today), of the excellent Exposition of the Baptist Catechism, and of a book of sermons that is deeply instructive and edifying.
From here, we will drive to Tewkesbury in order to visit the oldest existing Baptist meeting house. It is called the Old Baptist Chapel and will be a wonderful spot to think about how our brothers and sisters worshiped God, often hidden away from the world.
