This is our last day in London. The highlight for today is a visit to Westminster Abbey. Though it has been the site of coronations and funerals of royalty (Princess Diana was buried from here), our interest has more to do with church history. It was here that the Westminster Assembly convened on July 1, 1643. While the initial session, attended by divines and dignitaries, was held in the main church, most of the working sessions met in the Jerusalem Chamber. Sadly, it is currently in use and we will not be able to see it. Nevertheless, it will be wonderful to contemplate the enormous benefit that has come to English speaking Christianity as a result of that meeting of pastor-theologians.
