William Greenhill, Westminster divine and Independent pastor wrote these words:
When the world was shaken by Adam’s sinne, God secur’d it by the promise of his Son.
This is a wonderful thought is it not? Sin may shake, but God in his gospel secures. Life is greater than death. Christ is risen.
These are the first words in the Epistle “To the Honourable House of Commons assembled in Parliament” at the front of Greenhill’s 1643 Fast Day sermon entitled “The Axe at the Root.”
