The growing number of reprints available today is really wonderful. Major works of the past, so useful to saints for generations, are again accessible for us. What a blessing. Now, another new project has begun, and this one is slightly different. While most of the others have simply reprinted previous editions of English language works, this project provides new translations of previously untranslated works. It is the Classic Reformed Theology series being edited by Prof. R. Scott Clark (you will find his introduction to the series on this website) of Westminster Seminary California and published by Reformation Heritage Books.
The first volume in the series is William Ames’s A Sketch of the Christian Catechism. Ames, an English puritan exiled to the Netherlands, was secretary to the moderator of the Synod of Dort. His work was very influential in his homeland, even among the Particular Baptists. They incorporated a good deal of material from his Marrow of Divinity into their 1644 Confession.
We hope that this new series will be much used of God. Congratulations to Dr. Clark and Reformation Heritage Books for bringing these works back into print.
